Songwriting: for children 11 years or older: Song Writing Workshop

A whistle stop introduction to the art of writing songs, delivered by an experienced
professional song writer. The majority of the session will be spent writing songs,
individually or in small groups under the guidance of the workshop leader (who will do his
best to interpret and capture these by the end of the session, so that participants can
leave with a recorded version of their efforts. Song ideas may be adapted from stories or
if preferred, downloaded direct from the imagination.

Mick is an accomplished musician and songwriter, playing piano and guitar to a high
standard. He has performed live in 27 countries and on broadcast TV in 4. He has written
songs for commercial release, as well as music for film (including one premiered at
Cannes) and theatre. Mick has also run various song writing workshops and courses,
both in previous his role as director of Quay Arts and as a freelance music professional.

​Only children attending need a ticket; the accompanying adult does not need a ticket.

 

Mick has 3 children of his own and greatly enjoys inspiring and encouraging young
people to develop their creative potential.
