Comics: for children 10 years or older: Inspiration for Storytelling in Comics

Seminar Room

They say that ‘everybody has a book in them’, but where do you begin? Russ Sheath talks about the inspiration for his diverse range of published work and how inspiration can be found in the most unlikely places.

Russ Sheath is a writer and journalist who has written for some of the most recognisable outlets in publishing, from Image Comics - home of the Walking Dead, to The Times Education Supplement. Currently focusing on writing for fiction, Russ writes for the iconic ‘Commando’ comic book series, as well as HR4K’s Groundhammer series. Russ is also working on his first prose novel series, the Isle of Wight set mystery series for young readers, ‘Gallybagger Mysteries’.

Children under 12 must be accompanied.

Our friend-of-the-festival Russ is doing something amazing!

On 23 March 2024, Russ will be taking on Everest, trekking to Base Camp as part of the
Man V Mountain challenge. He'll be raising funds for Help for Heroes and IW Story Festival.

Here's what he says:

One Man - Lots of Mountains - Let The Adventure Begin.

Russ Sheath will be supporting two UK charities, the IW Story Festival and Help for Heroes, by trekking to Everest Base Camp, the first of many planned treks to support charities.

Please help him raise some much needed funds and give him lots of encouragement to trek to Everest Base Camp. Every pound will help! Thank you so much.
