Stitch Department

Making workshop: for children 11 years or older:

Design, sew and create your favourite book in fabric.

Michael West Gallery

Join Amber from Stitch Department to recreate your favourite book using fabric. Firstly, get creative and design your book cover. Then learn several sewing techniques to decorate and embellish your book. We will then turn your creation into a pouch that you can use as a wallet, purse, pencil case, whatever you like. We will have lots of scrap fabric, buttons and decorations so you can super creative with your design.

Stitch Department is a local clothing practice that works towards a more sustainable approach to the clothing and textile industry. We host sewing workshops and masterclasses teaching vital skills to encourage repairing, mending and to generally slow fashion down. We also do a
range of after school clubs and events to inspire the next generation to sew and be creative.

Only children attending need a ticket; the accompanying adult does not need a ticket.

Design, sew and create your favourite book in fabric. Saturday 17 February 10.00-12.00

Children under 12 must be accompanied.

PLEASE NOTE: the Ad Astra exhibition is currently running in the Michael West Gallery. Due to space restrictions we ask that only one adult accompanies your child/children.
